Well, again I’m a day late on Monday Musings. But I was so jazzed about the release of Flying in the Dark yesterday that I couldn’t help myself. This week Chris Allen-Riley, Leigh Jones, Lynn Doezema, and I are looking at our dream vacations.
I think it’s funny how our personalities manifest in the places we want to visit. I once had a friend rave about Paris and how amazing it would be. Paris? Nope, not on my list. Mountains and oceans–that’s what I want. They don’t have to be in the same place, but 2-for-1 is a special I can’t pass up.
Here’s my list: New ZealandAustralia, Ireland/Scotland, Greece, Fiji, out West USA, Normandy.
Current tops on the list is New Zealand because I’m a nerd. I want to do a Middle Earth tour in New Zealand and visit all the locations/sets where the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit were made. Told you I was a nerd (Admit it: You love me for it.).
However, since it’s winter in Michigan and I’m surrounded by snow, I’m also thinking
about sand, sun and surf. I think now would be the perfect time for a little island hopping. Fiji, here I come (in my head, perhaps, but this is a post about Dream Vacations!). Okay, so the photos are of the North Shore of Oahu, but go with it people.

I never even thought about the Dominican Republic but having just been there it was mighty wonderful!! (Could have just been the 85 degree temps vs. single digits here in ND though).
My dream vacation is: Ireland/Scotland (got to see Nessie), got to see Stonehenge, Switzerland and the Alps. My Portland to Portland trip of course!! (Maine to Oregon). Ok, so I’m not overly fussy, I like to see the sites that the US has to offer, sand, sun, surf are always a plus though!!

Oh yeah, forgot the Cryptid Circle..Girls and I want to make a huge circle looking for cryptids… Dog Man, Nessie, Big Foot, etc.. Plus I want to take the TransCanadian Railway coast to coast. Thanks for reminding me!
I’d love to visit Italy sometime. Right now anywhere warms sounds pretty good though. I’m sick of boots and mittens and pasty-colored skin.

Doesn’t it? I don’t think I’ll paste hair on my feet or anything but I might wear my One Ring everywhere.
I’m a Paris girl! I’ve been there but so want to go back. I’m also adding Italy to the tour and am looking at 2014 to make the trip to see our former German Exchange student. I might try and sneak in other places in Europe as well. I like old things like churches and castles. Call me a romantic.

You romantic, you! I worry about what that makes me. I want to tour around Europe too–Normandy, Bastogne, etc.–on my WWII pilgrimage.
I like the Middle Earth tour – sign me up! I have an African Safari (camera style), diving in Bali and the Great Barrier Reef, and anywhere in Italy on my list. I see myself eating LOTS of gelato in Rome 🙂
In the meantime, living in Hawaii is awesome! So very grateful to live in my happy place.
